Abstract
Covid 19 pandemic has affected all aspects of life. The field of education was not of any
exception since educational institutions all over the world shifted from face to face learning
to distance learning mode. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of distance
learning on EFL learners’ knowledge and linguistic outcomes during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The study is divided into two chapters. The first one is a literature review about distance
learning and linguistic outcomes. The second chapter is devoted to field work. To answer
the research questions, a descriptive qualitative method is adopted. Data are gathered
through a questionnaire distributed to Master one linguistics students and an interview with
four teachers from the English Department in M’sila University. The findings obtained show
that distance learning had a negative impact on EFL learners’ knowledge and linguistic
outcomes during Covid 19 pandemic. Based on these findings, recommendations are
suggested for students, teachers and university administration.
