This Course Handout serves as a comprehensive introduction to heat transfer, tailored for undergraduate mechanical engineering students specializing in mechanical construction. It adheres to the official academic curriculum and emphasizes the fundamental principles and mechanisms of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. Structured into three chapters, the course begins with a general overview of three heat transfer modes, accompanied by practical examples to simplify understanding. Subsequent chapters delve into steady-state one-dimensional conduction with detailed equations for various geometries, followed by an exploration of free and forced convection, including methods for calculating fluxes and key correlations. The final chapter addresses heat transfer by radiation, introducing black body concepts, radiative surface properties, and radiation in semi-transparent media. The course is enriched with solved exercises and appendices containing essential thermophysical data, providing students with practical tools to master theoretical concepts and apply them effectively in engineering contexts.

    Course Handout Fluid Mechanics 2
(University of M'sila, 2024-12-02) Dr Benkherbache Souad
This course introduces the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, focusing on three core areas: fluid kinematics, integral conservation laws, and dimensional analysis with similarity principles. It explores fluid motion through mathematical tools (divergence, gradient, and differential equations), mass conservation, and the analysis of 2D incompressible and irrotational flows. Integral conservation laws are applied using the Reynolds transport theorem to momentum and energy equations. The course concludes with dimensional analysis and scaling techniques to simplify and relate real-world systems to models. These principles are essential for applications in engineering fields such as aerodynamics and hydraulics.

    Electric safety
(University of M'sila, 2024-11-24) GHADBANE Ismail
Electrical safety refers to the set of practices and measures implemented to prevent risks associated with the use of electricity, ensuring the protection of people, property, and electrical installations. It is essential in all environments where electricity is used, whether in residential, industrial, or commercial buildings. The main aspects of electrical safety include protection against electrical shocks. An electrical shock occurs when the human body comes into contact with a live electrical conductor. Safety is achieved through the use of protective devices such as circuit breakers, grounding systems, and residual current devices, which help prevent this type of risk. Electrical installations must be carried out in accordance with current standards and regulations, such as the NF C 15-100 standard. A poorly installed system can lead to short circuits, fires, or electrocutions. Electrical systems should be regularly inspected and maintained to detect any abnormalities (e.g., exposed wires, damaged equipment). Equipment must comply with safety certifications. Personal protective equipment (PPE): People working on or near electrical installations must wear suitable protective gear, such as insulated gloves, safety shoes, and protective eyewear. Training and awareness: Prevention also involves training workers and the general public in proper safety practices, such as never touching damaged electrical devices or cables and avoiding the use of faulty equipment. Fire risk: A short circuit or insulation failure can cause a fire. It is therefore crucial to install safety devices that disconnect the power in case of failure. In summary, electrical safety aims to prevent electrical accidents through proper design, installation, and maintenance of equipment, as well as by training users and ensuring the use of appropriate protective devices. The goal of this field is to inform future professionals about the nature of electrical accidents, methods for rescuing electrical accident victims, and to provide sufficient knowledge for properly sizing protection systems for both equipment and personnel working in industrial and other sectors that use electrical equipment.

TP Systèmes asservis linéaires et continus
(University of M'sila, 2024-12-02) Abdelhafid BENYOUNES
