Item Open Access Bodies under Siege in Suzanne Collins’ the Hunger Games(2017-06) Benderradji, HadjerThis study is an attempt to explore, from a Marxist perspective, the different features of a totalitarian regimes depicted in Young Adult literature, as well as its impact on modern societies through a critical study of Suzanne Collins’ the Hunger Games. To achieve this aim, we will unveil the different characteristics of dystopian literature which is a genre that flourished during the twentieth century due to many historical events such as the two World Wars and the October Revolution of 1917. Dystopian societies are characterized by their oppressing governments who have total control over people’s lives .The Hunger Games is considered to be one of the most important dystopian literary works that described future societies in a pessimistic way. Accordingly, the primary goal of this research is to provide a critical explanation of how Suzanne Collins’ the Hunger Games; in its plot and themes; carried out this futuristic pessimistic description of the modern world.
