The present study sheds light on some of the mechanisms of domination and some of its forms
in contemporary society; we seek to clarify the relationship lurking in the trilogy: science -
technology - ideology. Scientific and technological progress has turned into a tool for domination,
oppression and exhaustion of poor people under various covers, including: democratization and
respect human rights or achieving international peace, This means that science no longer serves
human goals, and is no longer a tool for liberating people, but rather it employs ideological and
repressive employment. Marcuse does not exclude the occidental society which is subject to the
sur-repression in light of what he called productive ideology, which shrank the occidental human
in one dimension including in production and consumption. The human in this society, has
turned into a bundle of desires that must be satisfied, so the occidental modernity expressed, in
the view of Marcuse, her inability to achieve those humanistic goals expressed by the era of lights. |
