Résumé:
Algeria is one of the fertile multilingual context in which many sociolinguistics
studies have been realized because of the linguistic verities including French, Arabic and
even English in contact. For being more precise and concise, the present study attempts to
describe the languages contact and to determine the impact of code-switching on English
writing performance at secondary school. Pedagogically speaking, Algerian learners of
foreign language classes in secondary school depend on code switching to fill the
communication process; the overuse of this linguistic phenomenon creates certain effects
on students; whether the impact is negative or positive.
In addition, we opted methodologically for a Triangulation especially the model
(The QUAL-quant model + comparison) which is recommended for increasing credibility
and validity of research, applied linguistic is too interested to this method because it deals
with mixed methods and a contrastive study both qualitative and quantitative approaches,
and depending on the analytical method, as well as we focus mainly on “content analysis”,
it has been used as tool for analyzing the learners’ texts.
